Holiday Gift Guide: Aesop

Tuesday December 09, 2014

Established in 1987, Aesop has developed a reputation for its prevalence among luxury skin care brands. The Greek storyteller Aesop is known for his moralistic fables, and it’s fitting that his moniker has been adopted by this Melbourne-base company that seeks a story with everything they do.

Aesop uses the highest quality ingredients - those that are most suited and effective for our skins health. Some of our favorites include the Boston or London Travel Kit, the Geranium, Reverence and Resurrection Duets, Mouthwash, and the Moroccan Neroli Shaving Duet.

Shinola Black Blizzard Titanium Chrono Watch

Inspired by the Dust Bowl of the 1930s and the homesteaders who weathered the storm, Shinola releases their first titanium watch with 200 meters of water resistance and sapphire crystals over the dials. Having a titanium case makes the Black Blizzard lighter than similar sized steel watches, and it also comes with an interchangeable custom-made rubber strap. The Argonite 5050 quartz has a 1/10 of a second chronograph and a big date indicator. If your man is into quartz watches, then this is the one to get.

Shinola The Black Blizzard - $1900

Phigvel Voyager Hat

A versatile hat that can be dressed up in a variety of styles, and the Voyager hat from Phigvel Makers & Co. is a staple for any mans wardrobe. Made of fine rabbit fur, the hat is constructed with the specifications required for travel and storage – it can be folded then curled up round to put in your bag without losing its shape.

S.N.S. Herning Ion Transporter Blanket

S.N.S. Herning was established in 1931, taking its name after the initials of its founder, Mr. Søren Nielsen Skyt, and the town in Denmark where the family owned firm is still based. To produce the fabric, a team of five men operates the knitting machines. The blanket is 100% virgin wool, which is sourced from Australia, New Zealand and South America, before being spun and dyed in Italy. Approximately 1kg of wool is required for SNS Herning to knit a sweater, so imagine how much wool is in this blanket. All of SNS Herning products are knitted in Denmark with the utmost care to ensure that the founder’s original high standards continue to be met and exceeded today.

Well, why not invest in yourself by picking out the perfect holiday pieces for you, your home, and the man in your life. After all, scent is also a part of that first impression right? Focus | OAMC Outerwear

Wednesday November 19, 2014

Who says you can't find everything you need (and maybe more) in one jacket? The guys over at OAMC certainly don't. This season they've helpfully provided us with several multi-functioning outerwear options that are as useful and pragmatic as they are good-looking. Here we've highlighted two of our favourites.

The Director Coat

The Director Coat has so many hidden treasures, you could wear it for months and still keep finding different components that you never knew were there. With thirteen pockets in total, each dedicated to a specific purpose, you'll never want for functionality again. Tailored to match the particular needs of an on-set film director, this coat makes an ideal option for anyone whose daily life requires them to carry more than just your average phone and wallet, with slots for pens, tablets, notebooks, cameras, batteries, and almost anything else you might need. Add to that the durability of a 3L bonded knit jersey body, vegetable tanned leather sleeves, quilted lining, and top-of-the-line Riri zippers, and you've got the perfect utilitarian jacket for the modern urban man.

The Sport Parka

Made from an exclusive custom-printed Japanese poly/nylon heat bonded jersey, the Sport Parka is your everyday go-to parka. The water-resistant properties of the fabric will keep you dry, while the mesh lining will keep things breathable and light enough to pile on the layers underneath. But it's all the small details that really make it worth your while. The sleek, tonal hardware not only looks great, it also provides extra strength to the front handwarmer pockets and secure closings for the storm flap. The inner pocket features another smaller pocket inside that, perfectly sized to house and protect your mobile phone from the elements outside, and the outer pockets feature secure snap closings, hidden from view so as not to interrupt the clean lines of the silhouette.
