Feature | Weiss Watch Company

Tuesday January 27, 2015

Most men have at least one watch that they would call their "grail" watch. While the styles and names will vary, most will have one thing in common - they're technical. Weiss Watch Company is restoring prestige to American watchmaking while focusing on designing and building luxury timepieces with mechanical movements by hand in Los Angeles, California.

Upon graduating from the Nicolas G. Hayek Watchmaking School as a WOSTEP Certified Watchmaker, the Californian, Cameron Weiss founded the Weiss Watch Company in 2013. He underwent extensive training at Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin, two of the most prestigious luxury watch brands in both Switzerland and the US. Weiss Watch Company is currently the only watchmaker in the US designing, engineering, and manufacturing their own cases and dials, as well as finishing each movement by hand.

The Standard Issue Field Watch features a manually wound Weiss Caliber 1001 mechanical movement comprised of over 100 Swiss parts that are hand-finished and assembled in L.A., California. The case and caseback are machined from one solid piece of stainless steel and polished individually by hand. Sapphire crystals are used on the front and back of the case for strength, durability and to display the highly finished movement inside.

These timepieces are in limited production, each individually numbered in a custom-built California pine wood box, also built by hand in the USA.

Get To Know | Adieu Paris

Friday January 16, 2015

Benjamin Caron and Isabelle Guedon make a perfect couple. Benjamin, a cordwainer with a fascination for the British subcultures of the 70's and 80's and Isabelle, who has previously worked as a right arm for Alber Elbaz at Guy Laroche and then at Yves Saint Laurent, are the design duo behind French shoe label Adieu Paris. How can Adieu shoes be described? It's a re-creation of the creeper sole with a graphic welt - an integration between the 50's and the 70's.

Holiday Gift Guide: Aesop

Tuesday December 09, 2014

Established in 1987, Aesop has developed a reputation for its prevalence among luxury skin care brands. The Greek storyteller Aesop is known for his moralistic fables, and it’s fitting that his moniker has been adopted by this Melbourne-base company that seeks a story with everything they do.

Aesop uses the highest quality ingredients - those that are most suited and effective for our skins health. Some of our favorites include the Boston or London Travel Kit, the Geranium, Reverence and Resurrection Duets, Mouthwash, and the Moroccan Neroli Shaving Duet.
