Japanese label Comme Des Garcons has been innovating the world of fashion since 1973, starting out as a womenswear line and adding menswear in 1978. Founder and designer Rei Kawakubo takes an anti-fashion approach to designing, often producing garments that look deconstructed and destroyed, while constantly challenging established ideas of beauty. Always avant-garde and provocative, Comme Des Garcons plants our minds with the conviction that the most weird can also be the most beautiful.
As unorthodox as their clothing is, the line of fragrances from Comme Des Garcon may just push the envelope of innovation even more. Embodying abstract scents like "dust on a hot light bulb," "flash of metal," and "freshness of oxygen," these mostly unisex perfumes take fragrance to a new level of avant-garde conceptualism, while still maintaining a pleasing, wearable appeal.
