wings + horns
Vancouver brand wings+horns was launched in 2004 when founder Craig Atkinson returned to Canada after spending seven years in Japan. The result is a line that has Japanese quality and detail, with a distinctly Canadian feel. Each piece is made unique through the use of custom fabrics and tailored for the perfect fit. Classic utilitarian styles are given contemporary twists to create timeless and luxurious designs.
Spring/Summer 2014 marks the 10th anniversary of wings+horns, and they’re celebrating by paying tribute to their Japanese beginnings. Fabric has always played a big role in the identity of the brand, and the lush history of textiles in Japan provided them with a rich source of ancient weaving and dyeing techniques that could easily be transferred to modern-day fabrics. The use of sashiko embroidery, sakiori weaving, and indigo dye can be seen throughout, along with custom patterns and prints inspired from vintage tenugui. All this in a colour palette inspired by the Japanese seashore of vibrant blues, sunny oranges, and sandy tans make this collection an impeccable celebration of the unique and distinct character that wings+horns has been honing to perfection for the last decade.
