Junya Watanabe began his fashion career as an apprentice to Comme Des Garcons founder Rei Kawakubo. Soon after, in 1993, he started his own line under the Comme Des Garcons name and has been producing quality and innovative garments ever since. His cutting edge designs and original use of fabrics clearly show his former mentor's influence, yet he still maintains an individual identity that has inspired many other designers after him.
Fall/Winter 2012 picks up right where the last season left off: a farmers market from a time gone by. The looks from Spring/Summer 2012 have developed organically into a more workwear inspired collection rooted with overalls, suspenders, and patchwork plaid shirts. With signature Junya Watanabe details, and a colour palette full of rich and earthy tones, these clothes are a more exciting and progressive take on traditional workwear.
