New to Roden Gray this season is Jil Sander, a name that has been synonymous with high quality, minimalist basics since 1978, when she first launched her namesake label. A menswear collection was added in 1997, with the same fundamental ideals and aesthetics running throughout, straddling that perfect line between austere and exciting that typically results in masterfully designed wardrobe staples. The Spring/Summer 2014 collection continues the minimalist Jil Sander tradition, this time with a slight 1980’s New Wave quality coming through in the form of a monochrome black and white colour palette punctuated with a bold, graphic orange. Textural jacquards and unique details serve as a nice counterbalance to the crisp cuts and controlled tailoring in this sophisticated and polished collection.
