RG Community: Sock Drive
December’s the month of giving and we have a bunch of Mr. Gray socks to share! We’ve partnered up with three neighbourhood outreach organizations in Vancouver: Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, Covenant House and First United Church for a buy one give one initiative.
Purchase a pair of Mr. Gray socks between December 1st and 31st and we’ll match your contributions. We outlined a bit of information about each community organization below so you know where your support is going. Grab a pair online or in-store today and support the cause!
Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre
Founded in 1978, The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre has provided a safe, judgement free environment for self-identifying women of all backgrounds who live and reside in the Downtown Eastside area. The DEWC offers practical support, shelter and counselling, as well as employment and advocacy programs to provide stability and empower its members.
Covenant House has been providing exceptional community support for youth experiencing addictions and serious mental health issues for over 22 years. Founded in 1997, Covenant House caters to the immediate needs of youth experiencing poverty by providing a safe sanctuary and reliable structure to better equip its members to make informed choices and foster future stability.
First United Church
Since the Great Depression, First United Ministry Society has been called “the church of the open door,” and has continued to advocate for social justice for over 130 years, even after its congregation was dissolved. First United extends safe housing, spiritual support and harm reduction services for members of the Downtown Eastside community experiencing homelessness and complex personal needs.
