Shown near the Manhattan Bridge in New York’s Chinatown, Raf Simons’ spring summer collection juxtaposed the new and the old by drawing references between the east and the west. References to Blade Runner were present throughout the collection, as were graphics designed by Simon’s most famous collaborator and legendary graphic artist, Peter Saville. The collection stresses the positive nature of cultural synthesis, and how energy amongst and between creators and collaborators allow it to flourish.
adidas x Raf Simons
Belgian designer Raf Simons began his career in furniture and industrial design, moving into menswear design in 1995 with no formal education on the subject. This outsider approach to fashion has only to served to help form his innovative aesthetic of modern proportions and new shapes. Changing the perception of masculinity by fusing youth culture with traditional menswear, Simons creates cutting-edge designs with flawless tailoring and a unique point of view. Combining his innovative aesthetic with traditional sportswear, Simons has collaborated with Adidas to produce a series of revival sneakers that manage to look futuristic and nostalgic at the same time. For their seventh season together, Simons works with a cream and black colour palette to update the Ozweego running shoe and introduces his take on the Adilette slide.View Collection
