Raf Simons’ Fall/Winter 2018 collection “Youth in Motion” marks a renewed and nuanced appreciation of some more troubling aspects of modern social reality. Simons employed two major works that present a sort of commentary on the complexity and hardships of drug use and youth, without condoning or condemning their creators. Imagery of Cookie Mueller and Glenn O’Brien’s cult screenplay “DRUGS” is used throughout the collection, while the graphics prominently feature stills from the 1981 film “Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo [We Children of Bahnhof Zoo].”
