South2 West8

Kaname Nagoaka founded South2 West8 in Sapporo, Japan in 2002 releasing his first collection of fly-fishing gear in 2003. Largely based on the Japanese sport of “Tenkara-tsuri,” roughly translating to “from heaven,” Tenkara sport fishing was developed in the mountainous regions of Hokkaido. Garment patterns and colours are often borrowed from nature, with technical materials designed to resist cold, wet and often challenging conditions. With guidance from Nepenthes founders, Keizo Shimizu and Daiki Suzuki, South2 West8 has been able to maintain an aesthetic consistent with its brother brands while still staying true to their original intention of crafting gear for people moving between urban and natural environments.
