Locals | Antosh Cimoszko

Tsawwassen is a sleepy suburb ferry terminal town, 45 minutes outside of Vancouver. This is where Antosh Cimoszko grew up. It's here that Antosh started skating, creating whatever he could with whatever he could find on this beachy peninsula. At the start of high school, Antosh began to play around with photography through a class and started to document everything around him, which usually meant what was around the skate park. Present day-- Antosh has quite an extensive portfolio as the in-house photographer at Stussy. His work has also appeared in Quartersnacks, i-D, Thrasher and Eyescream Magazine. We caught up with Antosh in his apartment for some rapid fire questions and to try on some RG fits.

Roden Gray: How would you summarize your body of work in the past 3-4 years?
Antosh Cimoszko: Although a lot of photographs I take are editorial based, it's nice to move these commercial images into personal realms where they can be reintroduced outside into a different context.

RG: What are you working on right now?
AC: I've been working on a few things for house of vans happening this weekend, as well as continuously working with Stussy and filming skateboarding.

RG: Has your style and approach to photography evolved over time, if so how?
AC: I feel like I try to hold on to an approach that's been with me since beginning to take pictures, but altering how I intend to think about images and how I want them to come across is always changing.

RG: Where do you usually find inspiration?
AC: My friends! Going on trips also tends to help.

RG: How does Vancouver influence you?
AC: I think due to its relaxing qualities, I find routine and a place to think and regroup.

RG: Time for some rapid fire Q's!
