Founded in 2004 by Japanese designer Junichi Abe, kolor is a thoughtful brand that places heavy importance on fabrics and materials, developing new textiles every season. It’s through these tools that kolor updates classic menswear pieces, along with Abe’s intellectual approach to design. Every element of a garment informs the others, so that the cut, details, and fabric all work together to create a cohesive and functional piece.
Although in past seasons Abe has avoided concrete themes, the Spring/Summer 2016 has a distinct military influence, with oversized utility pockets and softened camouflage prints seen throughout. Precise tailoring combines with sturdy fabrics and low-key hues to produce a modernized utilitarian collection with an unmistakable Kolor point of view.
In addition to the main menswear collection, kolor also has their BEACON line of cut-and-sew shirts, jackets, and trousers. Maintaining the smart design approach and fabric experimentation of their main line, the BEACON sub-label provides unique tailoring and materials with workwear and old-world influences.
