Fumito Ganryu established his skills and inventive designs while working as a pattern maker at Comme des Garcons. After a decade with CDG, Ganryu decided to create an eponymous line that evoked a sense of intelligence while reflecting the world around him--without looking futuristic. His line debuted at Pitti Uomo in 2018, maintaining his design philosophy of menswear without gender. SS19 of Ganryu features many technical pieces, traditional menswear garments with a playful utilitarian combination. In this delivery, many garments come close to the futuristic perception, such as the water repellant Coach Jacket and Neoprene Pants while simultaneously staying close to Japanese tradition with the method of natural indigo-dying.
